Pocket Fencing Time
Pocket Fencing Time is a FREE new program that lets you keep score and time
for your bouts. However, it does far more - it tracks all pool scores, the bout
order, and tabulates results. It essentially replaces the pool scoresheet entirely!

Features
Pocket Fencing Time can be run in several different modes depending on your needs.
Are you a referee that just needs a quick score-and-time program? Use "Scorekeeper"
mode. Or do you need to run an entire pool? In that case, use "Quick Pool" mode.
Or perhaps you're a fencer or parent that wants to record scores and take some notes
during the pool? Use "Recordkeeper" mode and throw away that bulky notebook full
of pool sheets!
Scorekeeper Mode
Scorekeeper Mode was designed for use by referees. It is comparable to other "score-and-time"
programs available for other PDAs, but with more features.
In addtion to the ability to track the score and time the bout with the stopwatch,
Pocket Fencing Time lets you note penalty cards, which period the bout is in (for
DE bouts), and perform a coin-flip to determine priority.

Quick Pool Mode
Quick Pool Mode is the most versatile mode that Pocket Fencing Time offers. It was
designed mainly for referees to use as a replacement for the paper pool scoresheet.
When starting Quick Pool mode, you enter the fencer names and clubs on the "Fencers"
tab. Once this is done, the "Scores" tab displays the familiar pool grid with the
fencers listed. The next bout to be fenced is listed at the bottom of the screen,
and the corresponding boxes on the grid are hilighted. You can either choose to
fence this bout, or select another bout by simply selecting a box on the grid.
To fence the selected bout, you tap the "Fence" button. This will display the same
screen used in Scorekeeper Mode and is used to score the bout. Once the bout is
complete, the scores will automatically be entered into the proper boxes on the
pool grid and the next bout in the bout order will be selected. You can return to
a completed bout at any point by selecting it and tapping "Fence" again.
When the pool is done, the totals are automatically calculated and displayed on
the "Results" tab. At any point during the pool, you can view the bout order on
the "Bouts" tab. From here, you can choose a bout to fence (even if it is out of
order) and select whether the pool should use the "teammate" bout order. Finally,
you can enter any notes you wish to record about the pool on the "Notes" tab.

Recordkeeper Mode
Recordkeeper Mode is a unique mode designed for fencers or parents that want to
keep track of the pool scores for their personal records. It is set up to enable
fencers to quickly transcribe scores off of a written pool scoresheet when one is
being used.
In Recordkeeper Mode, a cursor hilights the current box on the pool grid. To enter
the score for that box, simply tap the number 0-5 at the bottom of the screen. To
clear the score, tap the "C" button. The hilight will automatically move to the
next box in order, allowing you to quickly copy scores off of pool sheet.

Fencing Time Pool Mode
Fencing Time Pool Mode is functionally identical for Quick Pool Mode, except for
one difference: The pool data is imported from the desktop version of Fencing Time.
Upon completion of the pool, you can export the pool scores back to Fencing Time
to save the bout committee from having to type in and verify the scores.

System Requirements
To run Pocket Fencing Time, you need Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 5, or Windows
Mobile 6 Pocket PC device. Because a touchscreen-enabled device is required, Smartphones
are not supported.
Pocket Fencing Time requires the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework to run. This will
automatically be installed on your device if it is not already present at installation
time.

top of this page.
- Connect your handheld device to your PC.
- Copy the PFTSetup.exe file to a folder on your handheld device.
- If you have a prior version of Pocket Fencing Time installed on your device, reboot
the device before installing.
- On the device, locate the folder where you placed PFTSetup.exe. Tap the file to
begin the installation process.
- During the installation, you may get warnings about running a program from an "unknown
publisher." This is not a problem and it is okay to confirm the action (tap "OK"
when asked.)
- After installation is complete, tap the Pocket Fencing Time icon to launch the program.
The first time you do this, you may get more "unknown publisher" warnings - these
too can be ignored.
